HENDERSON (KSNV – A suspect in several burglaries in Henderson and Las Vegas has been arrested.

According to a City of Henderson news release, a joint effort between the Henderson Police Department and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department led to the March 25th arrest of Michael Hoffman, 36.

Police crime scene analysts matched DNA collected at a Las Vegas burglary scene with Hoffman, who was in the system because of an extensive criminal history dating back to 2000 in the Las Vegas Valley. Officers served a search warrant and found evidence at the suspect’s residence linking him to a series of home burglaries valley-wide.

The suspect was also linked to burglaries by his vehicle, a distinctive red Ford F-150 pickup truck that witnesses reported seeing in the areas of the burglaries.

The suspect burglarized homes by entering through the back and grabbing what he could find in 20 to 30 seconds. He stole items that were small and easy to carry, such as jewelry and cash.

The suspect was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. Henderson Police have charged him with five counts of burglary and five counts of possession of stolen property, in addition to the charges brought against him by Metro. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Hoffman is scheduled for a felony arraignment hearing April 29 at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas.
