LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Metro detectives have arrested one man and are searching for at least four other suspects they say are involved in a series of residential burglaries in northwest Las Vegas.

According to a Metro news release, detectives from the Northwest Area Command Property Crimes Section arrested Norman Cook, 49, of Las Vegas, charging him with multiple counts of burglary and obtaining money and/or property under false pretenses.

Cook was arrested Oct. 22 while pawning property taken in a recent residential burglary. Detectives said they believe this crime is part of a string of similar occurrences which have occurred in the northwest part of Las Vegas.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, photos have been obtained of two of the suspects. They are described as black male adults, 20 to 30 years of age, standing between 5-foot-6 and 6-1 tall and having average builds, with one suspect having long hair worn in either braids or dreadlocks.

Detectives say they believe the suspects arrive in a neighborhood in the early morning hours as residents are leaving for their daily activities. After identifying homes which the suspects believe have no one inside, one of the suspects will then knock on the door. If there is no response he will then gain entry into the residence either through an unlocked door or window, or by forcibly breaking into the home.

Items typically stolen include cash, jewelry, electronics and firearms.

Anyone with information about the identity or location of these suspects, or any information about these crimes, is urged to contact the LVMPD Northwest Area Command Property Crimes Section at (702) 828-4431, or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or at

Tips directly leading to an arrest or an indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.
