Mother arrested in shooting of 11-year-old boy

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The mother of an 11-year-old boy shot Monday morning at a residence near Vegas Drive and Decatur has been arrested.

Shavon Aguilar, 31, also known as Shavon Carrillo, is in the Clark County Detention Center and faces the following charges: attempt murder with deadly weapon; child abuse with deadly weapon; and two counts of child abuse with mental harm.

According to a Metro news release, officers responded just before 5:10 a.m. to a residence on the 5200 block of Pebble Beach Boulevard to investigate a report of a juvenile who had been shot.

Arriving patrol officers located a male juvenile within the residence suffering an apparent gunshot wound. The juvenile was transported to the UMC Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. He is not expected to survive.

Two other juveniles and one other adult who were in the residence at the time of the incident were not injured.
