Pedestrian killed trying to cross Spring Mountain near Decatur

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A pedestrian was struck and killed this morning attempting to cross the road on Spring Mountain near Decatur.

According to a Metro news release, a 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling eastbound on Spring Mountain Road approaching the intersection of Hauck Street. A man and woman were crossing Spring Mountain from the north curb to the south curb outside of a marked crosswalk.

The victim, a 45-year-old Las Vegas woman, was struck by the front of the Toyota. She sustained critical injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma, where she was pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.

The occupants of the Toyota and the other pedestrian were uninjured. The driver of the Toyota was not suspected of driving under the influence.

This is the 23rd fatal-injury traffic accident in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2014. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
