PRIMM (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- About 80 customers -- eight in Primm and 72 in Goodsprings -- remain without power as of 4 p.m. today after a fire in an NV underground vault in the Primm area.
The outage started shortly after 1 p.m. and was originally widespread until the exact location could be determined, according to an NV Energy spokeswoman.
The Clark County Fire Department confirmed an above-ground fire started shortly after 1 p.m., and said it started in an NV Energy underground vault.
"We don't know if it burned in the vault, but there was an above-ground fire that we fought," said Assistant Chief Kelly Blackman of the Clark County Fire Department.
The Nevada Highway Patrol closed the Interstate 15 on and off ramps in both directions for a brief period of time. Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said normal I-15 traffic resumed about 2:30 p.m.
