LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A 20-year-old driver of a scooter was killed Wednesday morning after colliding with a Chevrolet Pickup on West Lake Mead Boulevard and North D Street.
The Clark County Coroner's office has identified the man killed sa Justin Michael Vanderbake.
Blunt force chest trauma from the car truck crash has been ruled the cause of death by the coroner.
According to the police report, around 9:06 a.m. a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by 68-year-old Alford Burks of North Las Vegas was turning left from westbound Lake Mead Boulevard to southbound "D" Street when it was hit on the right front by an eastbound scooter-type motorcycle.
The Vanderbake was ejected to the roadway because of the collision. Vanderbake was transported to UMC Trauma by the City of Las Vegas Fire Department but was pronounced dead after arrival and the operator of the Chevrolet remained at the scene.
This was the 71st traffic related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2013. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
