LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a 40-year-old North Las Vegas man who was shot dead after police say he fatally stabbed a woman in her vehicle.

Clark County coroner's officials say Scott J. Brown died of multiple gunshot wounds on Monday evening. Authorities identified the woman as Angela Tamayo, 34, who died from multiple stab wounds.

Police say the two may have been in a custody dispute.

Police say Brown crashed his vehicle into the woman's vehicle near Los Prados Circle and Los Prados Boulevard, then broke her car window and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center, where she later died.

Police say the suspect then headed to North Las Vegas, where he attempted to break into a home and was shot by the owner.

Authorities say Brown died on scene.
