LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The Clark County coroner's office has ruled that a 53-year-old man committed suicide when he stepped in front an RTC bus Friday.

Leo Preston Miller was killed because of blunt force injuries to his head when he jumped into the path of an RTC bus on Las Vegas Boulevard North near Owens Avenue about 11:30 a.m.

The coroner was unable to find a hometown for the man.

According to Metro, witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated an RTC Max Bus was traveling northbound in the right travel lane of Las Vegas Boulevard approaching the intersection of Owens Avenue.

Miller was standing on a raised sidewalk on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard in front of Woodlawn Cemetery. He  left the raised sidewalk entering the roadway in the immediate path of the bus. The right front of the bus struck the pedestrian causing him to be thrown to the road surface.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
