LAS VEGAS -- The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau will conduct a “Sobriety Checkpoint” and DUI saturation patrols sponsored by the Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws Grant.

LVMPD Traffic and Patrol Officers will take part in this event to focus on both drug and/or alcohol impaired drivers in the hope of reducing the impact of impaired drivers during the Memorial Day Weekend.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday on Vegas Valley and Marion on the east side of the valley.

The checkpoint will focus on identifying drug- and alcohol-impaired drivers to include juveniles, young adults and older adults before they get involved in a collision, thereby increasing the safety for all Southern Nevada motorists.
