LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- It's been almost two weeks since a woman went missing while hiking within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

The man believed to be with her was found dead and there are no signs of her. Christina Diane Montes was last seen on June 3.

Two days later the body of her friend, James Johnson, 62 was found along a trail on the Arizona side of the Colorado River just south of Hoover Dam.

Montes' mother is asking the public for help to find her daughter. "I want to think she's alive but I don't know," Florence Frazier, the mother of the missing woman.

"I was terrified. I'm still terrified," Frazier said.

Montes's mother describes her daughter as standing 5-foot-2 and weighs about 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Her mother believes her friend had a heart attack during the hike.

On Saturday, 20 Search & Rescue workers searched the main trails, the social trails and the washes where people have gotten lost in the past, but found no sign of Montes.

"They don't feel that she's in the canyon," Frazier said. "Well then don't look in the canyon, look elsewhere. Look down the river. Spread out from the canyon."

Their search has stopped for now, but Frazier believes her daughter is out there.

"There are so many experienced hikers get lost of up there and have to be rescued. She's not that experienced of a hiker," Frazier said.
