HENDERSON (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The Henderson officer who destroyed a SWAT vehicle in March, after crashing it into a median has been fired.

Henderson police say officer Justin Simo committed "serious policy violations that warranted" a decision to terminate his employment.

Simo told investigators he didn't see any damage on the vehicle after he slammed into the median so he kept driving.

The SUV then caught fire, causing $60,000 in damage.

Simo's termination is effective today but he does have the ability to appeal the decision.
