LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- A 21-year-old Los Angeles woman is in critical condition today after a two-vehicle accident apparently caused by a driver under the influence.

Metro reports that accident occurred about 1:40 a.m. Saturday 1:39 a.m. about 140 feet north of the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Siren's Cove Boulevard.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 1999 BMW was turning left from Siren's Cove Boulevard to northbound Las Vegas Boulevard.

According to Metro the driver of the BMW, 40-year-old Robert Orchard, 40. of Las Vegas, failed to maintain his lane and drove over the concrete median and hit a 2009 Ford Escape taxi cab which was stopped at a red light facing southbound in the inside left turn lane.

The taxi was pushed backward about 20 feet. All three occupants in the Escape were transported to Sunrise Hospital.

Natalie Fung of Los Angeles, a rear-seat passenger, suffered injuries considered to be life-threatening and is listed in critical condition at Sunrise.

Passenger Remi Yasui, 31, of Los Angles and driver Llambi Prifti, 57, of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries.

Orchard failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The collision remains under investigation by Metro's accident investigation section.
