LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Metro is working to resolve a standoff event in the southeast part of the valley.

Lt. John Liberty said the situation began about 9:30 p.m. in an apartment near Sunset Road and McLeod Drive when Metro officers received a text from a woman who said a man was not allowing her out of an apartment.

"We are working to slow the situation down and get a successful conclusion," Liberty told News 3 about 10:45 p.m. "We have off and communication with the man. We think there may be three people in the apartment but that is unconfirmed."

Liberty said the officers were at the location doing a follw-up call on another investigation when they received the text.

SWAT was called when it became obvious that it was a barricade situation.
