NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The 67-year-old man who killed himself Saturday after shooting his estranged 23-year-old wife has been identified.
Ronnie Lee Boal of North Las Vegas died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County coroner's office. The shooting was ruled a suicide.
North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said the shooting was the result of a domestic fight at a home in the 3500 block of Cantura Crest near Ann Road and Allen Lane shortly after noon.
A North Las Vegas news release says the preliminary investigation indicates the husband and wife were separated. The woman went to her former home to exchange some sort of property when a dispute erupted and the husband shot his wife. She made it into the front yard before collapsing. A neighbor, armed with a handgun, rescued the woman and moved her to safety.
Arriving officers confronted another armed man across the street from the scene. Believing him to be the shooter, they disarmed him. As other officers searched the man, the true shooter appeared in the door of the house. Officers ordered him to drop a gun he was holding. Before an further discussion, the man shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was nobody else in the home at the time. No force was used by any officers.
The woman was taken to UMC Trauma with injuries not believe to be life-threatening.
