LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Three people are in Sunrise Trauma with various injuries after a single-car accident early Saturday just across from the Boulevard Mall.

Metro said a 2007 Chevrolet Impala traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Maryland Parkway lost control just north of Dumont Boulevard at about 6:50 a.m.

"It hit a light pole when it lost control," Metro Lt. Michael Wallace told News 3. "The 28-year-old male driver is critical and in surgery at Sunrise Trauma, while a 24-year-old passenger is in serious condition at Sunrise."

Metro's accident report said, "while traveling southbound, the Chevrolet veered westbound, drove up on the west side walk, struck a signal control box and light pole. [A] pedestrian was struck with fluids and debris from the Chevrolet."

Wallace said the 53-year-old women pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was also transported to Sunrise.

Metro is continuing to investigate the accident.
