LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Thousands of costumed people are in Las Vegas for the annual Star Trek convention.

"Live long and prosper" is just one of those phrases from deep space that has stuck around for decades. You may be hearing it more this weekend as Trekkies and Trekkers from across the globe are transporting to Las Vegas for an annual convention.

News 3's Elizabeth Donatelli takes us inside.

On Saturday attendees are going to try and break the record for the most people wearing star trek costumes in one place. There will also be Klingons renewing their vows.

The event is one of the largest for our city because it drews more than 20,000 fans from across the country, and with the fans, comes the money which our economy needs.

The convention runs through Sunday at the Rio Suites Hotel.
