LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The expected wet weekend is starting to materialize today in Las Vegas and Southern Nevada as Tropical Storm Ivo moves up the west coast of Southern Baja.

A heavy thunderstorm had prompted a flash flood warning for the Sandy Valley area until 2 p.m. Most of the rain in the valley had stopped as of 2:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, windy conditions, spotty heavy rain and some small hail was reported shortly before noon in parts of the west side of the Las Vegas Valley. The rain has since stopped.

The biggest chance of heavy rainfall is expected to be late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A flash flood watch has been issued for all of the area through Monday night.

The latest weather alert from the National Weather Service advises residents to expect a significant increase in moisture by Sunday. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to result in Clark County, Mohave County in northwest Arizona and eastern San Bernardino County in California.

Residents are urged to be aware of weather conditions and the high possibility of flash flooding.

The NWS said that moist and unstable air will linger Tuesday through Friday for a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms each day with localized heavy rain showers and flash flooding possible.
