LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The juvenile accused of shooting and killing his older brother had protested a planned camping trip to Texas and was angry that his brother prevented him from going to his girlfriend’s house.

Turner Craig Bronson, 15, face a charge of murder with a deadly weapon in the death of Clayton Bronson, 18, who was days away from graduation from Sierra Vista High School. Clayton was shot in the stomach and side of the head Thursday night at their home in the 7400 block of Arcadia Bluff Court, near Buffalo and Robindale.

Wendy Bronson, their mother, told police that the brothers had argued for the past several months because Clayton kept telling Turner to get his life together. She also said Turner was scheduled to go to a wilderness camp Friday in Texas with his father and grandmother. She said Turner did not want or need to go.

Police say Clayton, Wendy and Clayton’s grandmother went to Sierra Vista for a school function Thursday night. When they returned, Clayton prevented Turner from going to his girlfriend’s house, holding him in a bear hug. Wendy separated the two, and Turner went upstairs. Clayton then asked his mother to get a tablet from Turner. When she brought it downstairs, Turner began swearing at Clayton.

Wendy Bronson said she was in the master bedroom when she heard them arguing, then heard a single gunshot. She saw Clayton in the upstairs hallway holding his stomach, saying that Turner had shot him. She and Clayton went downstairs to look for her phone to call 911. She told police that as she was standing by Clayton, Turner walked toward Clayton and fired a shot into his head.

Wendy Bronson said Turner then put the gun behind some pillows on the couch and began walking around the house. He eventually sat in a chair in the living room and waiting for police to arrive.

Arriving officers took Turner into custody and determined that Clayton was deceased.
