LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- With this start of the school year less than three weeks out, Clark County School District officials want to make sure that your child is registered to take the bus.
The School District is getting an earlier jump this year. Last year, officials say they didn't do as good as job as they would have liked, with parents also scrambling with vaccinations, back-to-school supplies and other responsibilities.
There are 17 operators at the Call Center, and it appear this afternoon that every single one of them was busy answering questions or helping people register for bus service.
One of the reasons that it was so busy is because parents are not permitted to register for bus service online. They have to do it over the phone or at their child’s school. The online service helps parents view stops on possible routes.
“For everybody's sake, again, call in now and get that information before the last weekend,” said Frank Gioreano, CCSD transportation director.
One way to know whether your child is successfully registered is that you should get flier in the mail detailing his or her route and other information.
The Transportation Department's call center is now open and can be reached by calling (702) 799-8111. Call center staff are expecting to answer thousands of calls before the first day of school.
To help meet this need, call center hours have been extended to later in the evenings and on weekends. The call center is open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. Extended hours will continue through the start of the school year.
