Police: Suspect in FBI shootout sought in Calif. investigation

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says the man involved in a shootout with FBI agents on Tuesday night was a man sought in a California homicide investigation.

Rene Dendaas, 37, is in the Clark County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court at 7:30 a.m. May 28.

The shootout happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of east Karen Avenue near Maryland Parkway.

When authorities when in to serve the arrest warrant, the suspect fired shots at FBI agents, they fired back. Dendaas then barricaded himself in the apartment for about five hours.

SWAT negotiators were called to the scene, and Dendaas eventually came out of the apartment and was taken into custody.
