HENDERSON – A motorcycle rider was killed this morning when he was struck by a car.

The victim, 51-year-old William Spellman of Henderson, was riding a Yahama motorcycle eastbound on Horizon Ridge Parkway approaching the intersection of Rich Perez Jr. Drive just after 7 a.m. when a Dodge Neon, traveling westbound on Horizon Ridge Parkway, made a left turn in front of the rider.

The rider was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital-Siena Campus, where he died from his injuries. The man was the registered owner of the motorcycle and possessed a motorcycle driver’s license.

Speed, drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be involved. The roadway is closed while fatal accident investigators conduct their investigation.

The driver of the Dodge Neon, a 17-year-old juvenile, was uninjured.

Spellman's death was the sixth traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.

The cause and manner of death is still pending with the Clark County's coroner's office.
