LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The Nevada Supreme Court soon will hear oral arguments in the case involving a dog that killed a 1-year-old boy more than a year ago.

Onion the dog has been caged in the Henderson Animal Control Facility for more than a year while the city battles an animal rights group to put him down.

The city deemed onion a vicious dog after it killed Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan.

The animal rights group The Lexus Project wants onion sent to a dog sanctuary near Denver.

Written arguments have already been filed in the case but the Supreme Court has decided they need to hear from the attorneys themselves.

A date for oral arguments has not been set.
