LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The city of Las Vegas Recommending Committee will review a rule change today that would eliminate some occupations that require a city work card.

A city bill would eliminate jobs like pawn brokers, restaurant servers, amusement park employees, convenience store clerks and more from having to get a work card.

This would cut down the list of occupations requiring the permit by half.

Councilman Bob Beers, who is sponsoring the bill, says the change could affect about 1,000 people every year.

The Recommending Committee can move this bill forward to the city council, reject it or suggest amendments.

The bill could go before the City Council for a vote as early as February.
