Driver critical after accident on Dean Martin near Tropicana

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A driver suffered critical injuries this morning after striking a light pole on Dean Martin Drive south of Tropicana Avenue.

According to a Metro news release, the driver, identified as Richard Craig Dickerson Jr., 24, of Las Vegas, was traveling northbound in the right travel lane of Dean Martin Drive south of Tropicana Avenue.

About 1,500 feet south of Tropicana, Dickerson failed to negotiate the left curve, leaving the roadway to the right. The vehicle traveled up onto the raised sidewalk and struck a light pole and chain link fence.

Dickerson, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained critical injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
