LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A man was killed Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle on Craig Road between Rancho and Rainbow.

According to a Metro news release, evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 2012 BMW motorcycle with a 43-year-old rider from Las Vegas was eastbound on Craig Road in the left of three travel lanes approaching Jadestone Avenue at a high rate of speed just before 2 p.m. A 2008 Honda Accord was turning left onto southbound Jadestone Avenue from the left turn lane of westbound Craig Road.

The Honda turned in front of the path of the motorcycle, resulting in an impact. The front of the BMW struck the right front of the Honda. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and slid to a stop several hundred feet from the impact.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The operator of the Honda was transported to UMC Trauma for moderate injuries.

This is the 111th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2013. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
