LAS VEGAS (KSNV — A man has been arrested, accused of murdering a local woman at a 7-Eleven parking lot near Palace Station.

Police say Sam McFarland was arrested Wednesday in Modesto, Calif., for the murder of Krystal McAdow.

According to authorities, a man entered McAdow’s car while she was in front of the gas station July 17 near Sahara and the I-15. That's when another man drove by, shooting the 23-year old in the chest.

Penny McAdow, Krystal’s mother, says exclusively to News 3 that her daughter knew the suspect.

"Sam was the ex. He was the ex-boyfriend,” Penny McAdow said. "I told her she needs to get away from him. I begged her to get away from him.”

McAdow says she's glad a suspect is under arrest but knows it’s little solace for her loss.

"I can't imagine my life without her, and that's the hardest thing,” she said. "Everyone that knew her, every life that she's touched, you'll never forget her. She's unforgettable.”

McFarland is expected to be extradited to Las Vegas next week.
