A teen is dead after being run over by a car as someone stole his iPad. Police say 15-year-old Marcos Arenas was hit by an SUV as the car's passenger ripped the tablet out of his hands. The suspects took off and Arenas later died at the hospital. News 3's Marissa Mike joins us live from the accident scene with the latest on the investigation.

A teenager who refused to give up his iPad and was dragged and run over by an SUV has died.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. Thursday at Charleston Boulevard and Scholl Drive.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the victim as Marcos Arenas, 15, of Las Vegas.

According to Metro, the victim was walking on the south side of Charleston Boulevard near the intersection of Scholl Drive carrying an iPad when a white vehicle stopped nearby, and a white male adult exited the passenger side of the vehicle and approached the victim.

The suspect attempted to steal the iPad from the juvenile, and drug the victim who appeared to be attempting to hold on to the iPad into the street and to the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect re-entered the vehicle with the juvenile still either holding on to the iPad or being held by the suspect.

The vehicle left the area driving Westbound on Charleston Boulevard with the juvenile victim still at the passenger door, possibly still attempting to retain the iPad. As the vehicle drove Westbound at a high rate of speed the victim fell and was struck by the fleeing suspect vehicle.

Metro’s Homicide Section is continuing this investigation.

The suspect vehicle in this crime is described as a white 2008 – 2010 Ford Explorer or Expedition equipped with factory running boards, tinted windows, and factory mag wheels. There were no license plates noted on the vehicle.

The suspect who was driving the vehicle is described as a black male adult in his mid-20s with a medium build and a “fade” haircut, and possible “tattoo sleeves” on both arms. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and possibly wore a long chain necklace and pendant around his neck.

The suspect who exited the vehicle and accosted the victim is described as a white male adult in his late 20s standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds with short blonde hair which was slicked back and shaved on the sides. He is also described as having a neatly trimmed ¼ - ½ inch beard running down his face from sideburn to sideburn. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone who was in the area of the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Scholl Drive near the time when this event occurred and who may have observed either the crime of the suspects or suspect vehicle are urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or at
