LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
One man is dead this morning after what police are calling a hit-and-run incident near Lake Mead and Nellis.
Sgt. Richard Strader of Metro’s Fatal Detail said police are searching for a driver of a white van, possibly the Econo line, that hit the victim, a 50-year-old man.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the residential area near Meikle and Ringe. The van was eastbound on Meikle when it hit the pedestrian, swerved and took a hard right south down Ringe.
Police say a security guard witnessed the accident and called for help. The victim was transported to UMC, where he was pronounced dead.
There is no plate or driver description, but police say they hope video from a nearby 7-Eleven gas pump camera has footage.
This is the 38th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2014. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
