LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The man suspected in the death of a motorist changing a tire on southbound U.S. 95 asked officers why “the people [he] hit” were parked in the middle of the road.

Gary Adair, 22, faces several charges in Monday’s death of Kadar Lee Brown, 38, who was struck and killed just after 5:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. 95 southbound before Rainbow Boulevard.

According to the Metro arrest report, Adair also said he had taken heroin and three different prescription drugs that day.

Police say Adair’s registration and proof of insurance was expired, and he displayed a fake decal for his license plate.

Police say Adair had been arrested for possession of a controlled substance - heroin - in September.

As he was being placed in a Nevada Highway Patrol vehicle, according to the report, Adair said, “I should have just ran when I had the chance.”
