Suspect in fatal hit-and-run near Jones, Saddle surrenders

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A woman suspected in a fatal hit-and-run accident Saturday night has turned herself in and faces charges.

Elizabeth Meza, 33, of Las Vegas surrendered to police Sunday night. She was arrested and transported to the Clark County Detention Center and faces one count of duty to stop at the scene of an accident (felony) and one count of failure to yield/exercise due care to pedestrian (misdemeanor).

The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. Saturday at Jones Boulevard and Saddle Avenue, just north of West Flamingo Road. A 2004 silver Nissan Exterra crossing Jones struck a 50-year-old pedestrian, who died about 90 minutes later at UMC.

Metro reported the Exterra did not stop but was recovered a short time later south of Jones and Flamingo.

The traffic fatality was the 42nd of the year in Metro's jurisdiction.
