HENDERSON (KSNV -- One of the most powerful moments of the services Monday for late Metro Officer David VanBuskirk came in the form of a tribute video.

VanBuskirk's story, captured by cameras shooting a pilot for a reality show, ultimately aired before a crowd of thousands gathered at Central Christian Church in Henderson to honor his memory.

The sound of his voice echoed through the crowd, and at once, everyone seeing clearly why this fallen officer was hailed a hero.

There were stories from lives he touched, woven between others from lives he saved and a love of the job, as told from VanBuskirk in his own words.

The officer died July 22 after falling at Mount Charleston moments after rescuing a stranded hiker.
