ID released of one moped rider killed in early hit-and-run

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – Two people are dead this morning after the moped they were riding on was struck by a truck.

The Clark County Coroner has identified 21-year-old Asian Phillip Le Nguyen of Las Vegas as one of the victims of the crash. The cause of death is still pending.

Metro says the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at Windmill and South Las Vegas Boulevard.

Police say a 2008 Ford pickup was driving fast when it hit the moped, which was stopped at a red light. The driver of the Ford then fled the scene.

The vehicle was found at the suspect’s residence with the moped still attached to the truck. The suspect remains at large.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene; the second victim died at the hospital.

In addition, three motorist drove through the crime scene during the investigation; alll three were stopped and charged with DUI.
