Households with an income of less than $52,000 in 2013 can receive free tax preparation through United Way’s “Earn It Keep It Save It” program at sites throughout the valley. Individuals and families may be eligible for an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) refund of up to $6,044. The EITC is one of the nation’s most effective anti-poverty programs for low-income, working taxpayers.
United Way will have more than 20 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites open across the Las Vegas Valley January 30 through April 15.
Some of the locations providing free tax preparation include: City of Las Vegas, College of Southern Nevada, Community Services of Nevada, Doolittle Senior Center, HopeLink, Las Vegas Urban League Pearson Center, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Nevada Partners and University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The public can dial 2-1-1 or visit uwsn.org/free-tax-help or go to eksnv.org to find the nearest tax preparation site, eligibility requirements and documents they will need to bring to the tax site.
