Five Las Vegas start-up companies are going for the $100,000 top prize from Project Vesto, a next generation business competition in Nevada sponsored by the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization. 232 teams entered the competition and 189 were selected to present a five-minute pitch before a panel of judges-investors. From there, 12 finalists were chosen to enter into the final phase for online voting to determine the winner.
Here are the Las Vegas finalists:
Arsilica Inc., specialty glassware
Jadon Foods, a gluten-free bakery
ListSanity, a social media tool to create lists to share with friends
Sport-Social, a program to help those with autism learn sports and social skills
Fitronix Inc., which uses motion capture systems and sensor technologies to measure fitness metrics for franchise gyms, physical rehabilitation facilities, and personal fitness studios.
“We would like the Las Vegas Valley to vote for these homegrown companies and support local economic development efforts,” said David Rolley, Fitronix founder. “We have some creative ventures that will help diversify our economy and propel our high technology interests into a higher gear.”
